Education & Outreach

The Tennessee Theatre is committed to making the arts accessible to everyone in our community.

The Youth Arts Alliance education outreach program was founded in 2007 by corporate partner Quantum Environmental & Engineering Services, LLC (QE2) in an effort with the Historic Tennessee and Bijou Theatres to provide an opportunity for school age children to attend performances throughout the year. Additional funding for this program is provided by Variety of Eastern Tennessee, area companies, foundations and individual donations.

In the 2007-2008 school year, the Youth Arts Alliance provided tickets for students to attend the Lexus of Knoxville Legendary performances including Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra featuring Wynton Marsalis, Tango Fire, African Children's Choir, Momix and The Five Browns. The program also arranged special performances for students by The Five Browns and members from the band Béla Fleck and the Flecktones.

Patrick Mulligan, Vice President of Business Development for QE2, states that "One of the truly wonderful things about Knoxville is the quality and variety of the performing arts available - everything from roots to the classics to international performance. Teaching our youth to appreciate these will strengthen and invigorate our local assets and give a gift to our youngsters that they will carry with them and enjoy for life."

Julie Carter, Music Director at the Joy of Music School, says, "This is a wonderful opportunity for our students; the Youth Arts Alliance is going above and beyond the call of duty to provide tickets for students to attend performances and experience the theatres."

If you are interested in providing tickets for a group of students, please download the Ticket Application form and return to the Tennessee Theatre box office. If you have any questions or need additional information, please call 865-684-1200 extension #2.

Eligible performances for the 2008-2009 season include Broadway at the Tennessee and Lexus of Knoxville Legendary Performances programming.
