PARKING & ARRIVAL

Accessible parking and drop-off options are available to ensure a smooth arrival experience for all guests. Designated accessible spaces are located near the Theatre, and a curbside drop-off zone is available directly in front of the Theatre for easier entry. Please see below for all of our accessible parking and arrival options.

ADA-DESIGNATED PARKING

Parking garages and lots in the area all have accessible parking for vehicles that have the proper hanging tag or license plate, as well as some metered spaces. There are multiple lots surrounding the Theatre. Visit downtownknoxville.org for a list of garages and parking lots in the area.

ACCESSIBLE DROP-OFF

There is a drop-off area in front of the Theatre. You will want to be north bound on Gay Street in order to access this area. A courtesy wheelchair is available if someone needs to be transported to/from the Theatre.

STATE STREET GARAGE PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE

For guests requiring mobility assistance and parking in the State Street Garage, we recommend parking on Level 3 or above and using the pedestrian bridge. This provides a more accessible route compared to navigating the steep sidewalk, which may be challenging due to the incline and pole obstructions. There is an elevator available at all levels of the parking garage.

The pedestrian bridge exits near Regal Cinemas, just a few buildings down from the Theatre. After crossing, head up to Gay Street, turn left, and you’ll see the Tennessee Theatre’s vertical marquee sign ahead.

RESTROOMS & FACILITIES

All restrooms at the Tennessee Theatre are wheelchair accessible and the Theatre is equipped with various features to support guests with different accessibility needs. See below for available amenities.

WHEELCHAIR-ACCESSIBLE RESTROOMS

All restrooms at the Theatre are wheelchair accessible. There is a single, “family style”, unisex restroom on the Orchestra Level at Aisle 1. Please contact an usher or Tennessee Theatre staff member if you need assistance.

WATER FOUNTAINS

All water fountains are accessible and are located on the Lower Lounge level.

MOTHER'S ROOM

A mothers' room for mothers to nurse is available. Please contact an usher or Tennessee Theatre staff member to be directed to this area.

ASSISTIVE DEVICES & SERVICES

The Tennessee Theatre can accommodate a range of assistive services to support guests with sensory, communication, or medical needs. See below for details on available services and how to request them.

ASSISTED LISTENING DEVICES (ALDs)

The Tennessee Theatre offers Assisted Listening Devices for patrons with hearing disabilities or sensitivity to sounds around them. This service is free of charge and is available for most performances, no reservation required. Hearing devices are on first-come, first-served basis. The Tennessee Theatre requires a form of identification (driver’s license/credit card) to be held until the listening device has been returned.

Our Assisted Listening Devices are provided with earbud-style earphones; patrons do not need to bring their own. We use new replaceable foam covers on the buds and dispose of them once used. If patrons prefer to use their own earbuds, the devices use a standard 3.5mm (1/8”) stereo phone jack.

SERVICE ANIMALS

Service animals trained to perform a health-related task are allowed into the Theatre. Emotional Support Service animals are not permitted inside the Theatre. Any animal may be requested to leave should they be disrupting the experience for others including but not limited to uncontrolled behavior or improperly house-trained. Service animals may not block aisles or exits. Please contact the Tennessee Theatre Box Office if you need assistance purchasing seats that can accommodate a service animal.

SIGN-LANGUAGE INTERPRETER / AUDIO DESCRIPTION

Sign-interpreted performances can be arranged in advance by contacting the Tennessee Theatre Box Office. Please specify that you want to purchase interpretation seats when ordering your tickets through the Tennessee Theatre Box Office. Tickets are available upon request and are subject to availability. The sign-interpreter must be scheduled two weeks in advance to guarantee this service.

Additionally, the Sunday matinee performances of our Broadway series will always include sign-interpretation and the Saturday evening performances of our Broadway series will always include audio description. Once again, please contact the Tennessee Theatre Box Office to arrange seats for these performances.
